Bowfishing a Jack in Cape Coral Canal

Bowfishing a Jack in Cape Coral Canal

If you Bowfish in the Cape Coral (SW Florida) area, you're going to get a lot of Mullet, a lot of Catfish and a decent amount of Sheepsheads & Stingrays. What you won't get a good shot at too often is a Jack (Crevalle).

Known for their crazy fight and speed, it's almost impossible to shoot them for 4 reasons:

1 - They move very quickly
2 - They never sit in one place
3 - They don't typically hang out around the surface
4 - They are skinny (so you can only really shoot at them broad side)

Last week I was lucky enough to get a shot off into a very large Jack. Unfortunately what makes them exciting (their fight) is what also saved him because he fought is way right off the arrow.

Lucky for me all the stars aligned and I was able to nab him in the tail as he swam past.

I shot him with my Cajun Sucker Punch that has been modified with an AMS Retriever Pro.
